Job Description
The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations in a 24/7 facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role leads a diverse team, drives continuous improvement, and maintains strong performance across safety, quality, service, cost, and productivity. The supervisor combines hands-on floor presence with effective administrative and leadership responsibilities to support both operational excellence and employee engagement.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision of daily production operations, including staffing, quality control, safety requirements and prevention, and adherence to production schedules.
- Lead by example to achieve targets in safety, quality, service, cost, and production, and actively provide suggestions for process and performance improvement.
- Hold team members accountable for following established procedures, meeting performance expectations, and conforming to conduct standards, using direct praise and recognition and addressing deficiencies promptly and respectfully.
- Enable the team to drive process improvements by applying accepted safety and continuous improvement techniques, including lean manufacturing and process improvement methods.
- Mentor Lead Operators to handle production problem escalations and workload challenges, ensuring effective delegation and problem resolution on the floor.
- Maintain strong employee relations through professional engagement, regular interaction, and visible presence in the production and warehouse areas.
- Complete all administrative activities in a timely and accurate manner, including pre- and post-shift reporting, audits, time and attendance processing, safety-related documentation, and employee relations and performance management tasks.
- Oversee effective training, qualification, and proficiency of employees, including ongoing skills assessments, safety observations, and constructive feedback to support continuous development.
- Build and sustain a dedicated team culture focused on excellence, open communication, and ensuring all team members feel heard and valued.
- Serve as an ambassador for company programs such as Shared Success, 5S, safety audits, skills and competency training, and the Employee Value Proposition to support morale and performance.
- Monitor and drive key performance indicators, including productivity, scrap percentage, labor utilization, on-time delivery, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), customer complaints, and total recordable incident rate (TRIR).
- Participate in and influence multi-level, cross-functional teams to support broader operational and business objectives.
- Manage a fast-paced environment in a 24-hour operation, effectively coordinating with a diverse workforce and multiple shifts.
- Maintain technical expertise on plant products, processes, and operations to support troubleshooting, decision-making, and training.
- Support adherence to corporate policies, ISO standards, and effective manufacturing practices in safety, quality, cost, productivity, and delivery.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on project-based maintenance activities and production readiness, including job preparation and manufacturing operations.
- Utilize ERP systems, including SAP where applicable, and standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) for reporting, communication, and operational planning.
- Ensure compliance with basic OSHA-related safety practices and foster a strong safety culture throughout the production environment.
- Operate or oversee safe use of equipment such as forklifts when needed, and ensure proper use of PPE in production and warehouse areas.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of a high school diploma (HS diploma).
- Three (3) years or more of hands-on experience in 24/7 plant operations, preferably in process-manufactured products.
- Three (3) or more years in supervisory or management positions with a proven ability to lead and motivate people, preferably with direct-report relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision and production management within a manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to participate in and contribute to lean production or process improvement events.
- Strong safety mindset and ability to foster a safety-oriented culture, with basic OSHA knowledge.
- Solid understanding of effective manufacturing practices in safety, quality, cost, productivity, and delivery.
- Proficiency with computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is a plus.
- Strong management and supervisory skills, including performance management, coaching, and team development.
- Ability to troubleshoot and support manufacturing processes, including familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and 480V systems.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, 24-hour production environment.
- Capability to perform physical tasks including prolonged walking and standing on the plant floor or warehouse area, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating a forklift as needed.
- Comfort working in variable weather conditions and in an environment with significant noise levels, while consistently wearing appropriate PPE.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Some higher-level educational experience or technical certification beyond high school is desired.
- Experience with ISO standards and adherence to corporate policies in a manufacturing setting.
- Exposure to project-based maintenance and manufacturing operations support.
- Experience in job preparation and coordination of manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to promote and support programs such as 5S, safety audits, and skills and competency training.
- Tech-savvy approach to using digital tools for reporting, scheduling, communication, and performance tracking.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, encourage open communication, and maintain positive employee relations.
- Experience participating in or leading cross-functional and multi-level teams.
- Familiarity with metrics such as productivity, scrap percentage, labor utilization, on-time delivery, OEE, customer complaints, and TRIR.

Work Environment
The work environment is a clean, well-lit, and highly organized manufacturing facility with a well-maintained maintenance shop. Operations run 24 hours a day, and you will split your time between the plant floor, warehouse areas, and an office setting. On the floor, you can expect prolonged periods of walking and standing, exposure to variable weather conditions, and working around machinery and equipment in a moderately noisy environment. You may operate a forklift as needed and handle materials up to 50 pounds. In the office, you will use computers and standard business software and participate in meetings and planning activities. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required in production and warehouse areas, including steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and work gloves, supporting a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
