Materials Manager
Materials Manager
This Materials Manager will oversee all aspects of materials planning, procurement, inventory control, and logistics for this manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring that materials and components are sourced, received, stored, and delivered to production efficiently and cost-effectively while supporting quality and on-time delivery goals.
• Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) systems.
• Lead production scheduling to support OTD and capacity utilization.
• Monitor production schedules and escalate material availability issues.
• Forecast material needs based on production schedules and customer demand.
• Source and purchase raw materials, components, and supplies from approved vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
• Resolve supply issues and material shortages quickly and effectively.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production without overstocking.
• Implement inventory reduction and cost-saving initiatives.
• Conduct annual Physical Inventory
• Use ERP/MRP systems to track material movement and performance.
• Report on KPIs such as inventory turnover, supplier performance, and cost savings.
• Manage inventory levels, cycle counting, and data integrity across ERP systems.
• Administer indirect and MRO purchasing in compliance with company policies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support SIOP and forecasting processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a related area. Equivalent experience will be considered.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in materials or supply chain management.
• At least 3 years of experience managing teams in a manufacturing setting.
• APICS CPIM certification is preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong mathematical ability for inventory analysis, cost comparison, and planning.
• Solid organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and maintain precise records.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with MRP/ERP systems required.
