Tri City Truck Parts Co is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Parts Counterman to join our team. This role is responsible for assisting customers with identifying, quoting, and selling heavy-duty truck parts while providing exceptional service to fleets, repair shops, mechanics, and walk-in customers. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of commercial truck components, excellent communication skills, and the ability to quickly locate the correct parts using catalogs, manufacturer resources, and inventory systems.

The Parts Counterman will be a key resource for customers by helping them find the right solutions to keep trucks on the road, from routine maintenance items to complex drivetrain and engine components.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers at the parts counter, over the phone, and through email with parts inquiries and orders
• Identify heavy-duty truck parts based on vehicle information, VIN numbers, part numbers, diagrams, and customer descriptions
• Provide accurate quotes, availability information, and delivery timelines
• Research and source OEM, aftermarket, and remanufactured truck parts
• Process sales orders, invoices, returns, and warranty claims accurately
• Develop strong relationships with customers including trucking companies, fleet managers, repair facilities, and technicians
• Recommend alternative parts and solutions when original parts are unavailable
• Maintain knowledge of heavy-duty truck systems including:
• • Transmissions
  • Transfer cases
  • Differentials and rear ends
  • Clutches
  • PTOs
  • Engine components
  • Exhaust systems
  • Steering components
  • Pumps and drivetrain parts
  • Electrical and cooling components
• Work closely with warehouse staff to ensure accurate picking and fulfillment of orders
• Maintain organized parts displays and counter areas
• Assist with inventory checks and special-order requests
• Provide exceptional customer service while handling multiple requests in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Parts Counterperson, Parts Specialist, or similar automotive/heavy-duty truck parts role preferred
• Knowledge of commercial trucks, diesel engines, and heavy-duty components strongly preferred
• Ability to identify parts using catalogs, online systems, and technical resources
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize customer needs
• Comfortable communicating with mechanics, technicians, drivers, and business owners
• Basic computer skills and experience using parts lookup systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn

Preferred Experience

• Heavy-duty truck parts sales
• Diesel repair shop experience
• Fleet maintenance experience
• Dealership or aftermarket parts experience
• Knowledge of manufacturers such as Detroit, Cummins, Caterpillar, Mack, International, Eaton, and similar brands
