Quality Inspector - Standard
Overview: Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process, compiling and evaluating statistical data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products. Provides quality services and support for all missions assigned to manufacturing while ensuring a healthy and safe work environment.
Tasks:
- Visually inspects parts for acceptance to quality requirements.
- Verifies paperwork and documentation.
- Reads blueprints to determine specifications and tolerances for a variety of machined components and/or assemblies.
- Utilizes a wide variety of inspection tools to complete dimensional reports.
- Ensures that containment activities take place when discrepancies are identified.
- Reviews and refines data collection requirements according to customer drawings, models, work orders, purchase orders, sketches, and PPAP requirements.
- Participates in Gage R&R studies.
Guidelines:
- Work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, and multi-task.
- Learn office procedures and use new software.
- Must be detail-oriented and communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees and departments.
- Wear safety glasses with side shields, safety-toed footwear, hearing protection, and additional PPE as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift.
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. to waist level and up to 25 lbs. above the shoulders.
- Stand for extended periods and work at a computer and keyboard occasionally throughout the shift.
Responsibilities:
- Act as an impartial third party between the production source and the customer facility to ensure the product meets set criteria.
- Perform a variety of simple to complex tasks with minimal supervision.
- Check/inspect manufactured parts or products for defects.
- Provide continuous communication to interested parties regarding any performance issues, inspection findings, or non-conformances.
- Read and follow work instructions and general processes.
- Use measuring or testing equipment as needed.
- Ensure products meet quality standards.
- Comply with local and company Health & Safety legislation, laws, and policies.
- Collect and record data.
- Utilize the company portal for time recording and policy acknowledgements.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One-year related experience and/or training (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Skills:
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential material.
- Able to read simple engineering drawings/blueprints.
- Knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience with measurement tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.
- Microsoft Office & SAP experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
