Consumer Banking Product & Reporting Controller, Executive Director
Job Description
As a Consumer and Banking Product Controller, Executive Director on the Consumer Banking Product Controller team, you will lead the product controller function for the Consumer Banking line of business. You will oversee financial reporting, regulatory reporting, product accounting, and analysis for consumer banking and consumer deposits, ensuring accuracy and strong end-to-end controls. You will partner closely with CFO, Planning & Analysis, Consumer Risk, FFRA, SEC Reporting, Product, and Technology to deliver compliant reporting and enable new product and regulatory change.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the Consumer Banking product controller function, setting vision, priorities, and execution standards.
- Direct the monthly close process and ensure financial accuracy and timely deliverables.
- Oversee posting and reconciliation of business results from the general ledger to downstream financial systems.
- Develop and document accounting flows, booking models, and procedures for deposit products.
- Implement accounting policy interpretations and ensure consistent GAAP application across reporting outputs.
- Manage preparation and governance of regulatory reporting schedules for consumer deposit products.
- Drive end-to-end control design, testing, and monitoring for reporting and product change initiatives.
- Partner with Product and Technology to support new product development and regulatory compliance implementation.
- Lead business integration and process improvement efforts to streamline workflows and build data best practices.
- Escalate issues constructively and present complex information clearly to senior management.
- Build and develop a cohesive team (9+), fostering strong communication, accountability, and risk discipline.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Bring 10+ years of experience in a controller, product control, or financial services finance role.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a comparable field.
- Demonstrate strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to interpret policy for consistent GAAP reporting.
- Apply a strong control mindset with rigorous attention to detail and risk escalation judgment.
- Execute effectively by rapidly grasping concepts, building plans, and delivering measurable results.
- Communicate clearly and build strong working relationships across functions, locations, and businesses.
- Manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously with strong organization and analytical problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Hold an active CPA (or equivalent accounting certification).
- Lead regulatory reporting platform development, testing, and execution with proven governance discipline.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of consumer deposits, overdrafts, and related operational systems and controls.
- Influence senior stakeholders by synthesizing large data sets into clear insights and recommendations.
- Drive enterprise change initiatives that improve data quality, automation, and reporting efficiency.
- Partner effectively with Technology on release management, testing strategy, and end-to-end implementation readiness.
- Coach and develop leaders within a high-performing team environment to sustain strong execution and controls.
