Boring Mill Operator

About the Role:

A busy fabrication and machine shop in Eastlake, OH is looking for a skilled Boring Mill Operator to run manual and/or CNC horizontal boring mills. This is a hands-on role for someone experienced in precision machining of large, heavy components to tight tolerances.

You’ll be part of a team that supports industries like heavy equipment, structural steel, and custom fabrication—where accuracy and craftsmanship are key.

What we can do for YOU:

• Pay: $18-23/hr
• Shift: Mon-Fri 7-3:30pm, OT is optional after probationary period

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate horizontal boring mills (manual or CNC, depending on equipment).
• Machine large steel weldments, plates, frames, and custom parts to blueprint specs.
• Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges to verify tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and machining drawings.
• Adjust tooling, speeds, and feeds based on materials and job requirements.
• Maintain machine cleanliness, safety, and routine preventive maintenance.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience operating a horizontal boring mill (CNC or manual).
• Strong understanding of setups, tooling, and workholding for large parts.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and tolerances.
• Familiarity with steel and aluminum machining.
• Overhead crane experience a plus.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
