We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a company specializing in designing and manufacturing industrial automated equipment. This position is a 9-month Contract-to-Hire role located in the Greater Columbus region. During the contract period, you will receive accrued PTO, holiday pay, a 401k, and benefits/insurance. Upon successful completion of the contract, you will be eligible for a direct hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers and team members to assess project assignments and ideas.

• Engage in customer interaction and communication.

• Design safe and cost-effective machine concepts, parts models, and assemblies based on customer requirements.

• Create detailed parts and assembly drawings with tolerances, and release them to the machine shop.

• Provide support to the machine shop regarding part detail drawings.

• Research and order components necessary for machine design, including pneumatic cylinders, valves, air prep systems, bearings, motors, drive systems, sensors, and other devices.

• Document bill of materials.

• Interface with and support Assembly, Electrical, and Software Design teams.

Essential Skills

• Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on 3D design for machine or industrial equipment.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks is strongly preferred.

• Experience with automated equipment is preferred.

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (8+ years as a Design Engineer with SolidWorks).

• 5+ years of experience in 3D design for machine or industrial equipment.

• Proficiency in CAD software with 3D modeling experience.

• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Experience with Bill of Materials (BoM) documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with equipment layout and facility layout is beneficial.

• Exposure to high-volume manufacturing equipment design is advantageous.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lewis Center, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $48.08/hr.
