Job Description

Our client, in Zanesville, is seeking a welder to join their team!

The Welder/Fabricator performs skilled welding and metal fabrication using MIG, SMAW, and other processes. This position requires the ability to join, cut, and shape metal components according to detailed drawings and specifications. The role includes equipment setup, weld parameter selection, metal preparation, and producing structurally sound welds that meet quality standards. This is not an operator position; it is a hands-on welding trade role requiring technical proficiency, certifications, and fabrication skill development over time.

Key Responsibilities:

· Set up and operate welding equipment for GMAW/MIG, SMAW (stick), and basic TIG as required.

· Select appropriate wire, electrode, amperage, voltage, and travel speed based on material type and thickness.

· Perform structurally sound welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as experience increases. Must be able to perform a weld test.

· Fit, square, align, and tack metal components prior to final welding.

· Prepare materials using grinders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, saws, and metal prep tools.

· Interpret weld symbols, fabrication drawings, and PATRIOT-produced blueprints.

· Inspect completed welds for porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, distortion, and other defects.

· Operate cutting torches and perform safe thermal cutting.

· Build and fabricate structural and custom assemblies according to specifications.

· Maintain welding equipment, replace consumables, and troubleshoot welding issues.

· Follow all PATRIOT safety procedures, including proper PPE and safe handling of hot work materials

· Read a tape measure, take measurements, and make basic math calculations

· Positive, team-oriented attitude.

Qualifications:

· 3-5 years of welding experience (must pass welding test(s) for MIG and SMAW)

· Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in welding environments.

· OSHA 10 certification preferred.

· Basic math and measurement skills required

· Ability to safely operate grinders, torches, and fabrication tools.

· Strong attention to weld quality, safety, and detail.

· Team player mentality
