Ophthalmic Technician/Surgery Coordinator

Position Overview
We are hiring immediately for a full-time Floating Technician who will perform diagnostic testing, assist with patient work-ups, and serve as the lead for surgical counseling and scheduling. This is a hands-on role that requires multitasking, strong communication skills, and a commitment to long-term employment. A Certified Medical Assistant degree or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant degree is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic testing (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, fundus photography)
- Assist providers with patient work-ups and clinical procedures
- Lead surgical counseling: explain procedures, pre/post-op instructions, and answer patient questions
- Manage surgical scheduling and coordination with providers, patients, and surgical centers
- Float between clinical and administrative duties as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Help ensure efficient patient flow in a fast-paced environment
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care that reflects our family-oriented culture
Qualifications
- A Certified Medical Assistant degree or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant degree is required.
- Prior experience in an ophthalmic clinical setting is a plus, but not required.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal communication and patient counseling abilities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting and handling multiple responsibilities
- Professional, dependable, and committed to a long-term role
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records preferred
