Verbatim Court Reporter Transcriptionist (Contracted)

**This is a fully remote position and does not require you to move or relocate before hire.**

We are seeking a talented and experienced Verbatim Court Transcriptionist to join our team. Position Overview: The successful candidate will have the ability to transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions accurately from audio recordings, maintaining a strict verbatim format. Proficiency in identifying speakers and knowledge of QA, Colloquy, and court formatting rules is essential. Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus!  AAERT certification receives premier consideration!  Applicants will be required to complete a skills assessment test. This is a contract position with compensation paid at a per-page rate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Audio Transcription: Transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions from audio recordings with precision. Accurately identify speakers and capture all spoken content in verbatim format.
• Quality Assurance: Apply quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court formatting rules. Familiarity with QA processes to maintain high transcription standards.
• Colloquy Knowledge: Demonstrate understanding of legal terminologies, colloquy, and court-specific language.
• Time Management: Manage 1-3 day turnaround times , allowing minimum of 1 day per 1 hour of assigned audio. Meet deadlines consistently while maintaining accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Verbatim Transcription Experience: Proven experience in transcribing court proceedings, trials, and depositions with adherence to court formatting rules. Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus!
• AAERT certified applicants will have premier consideration for the position.
• Q&A and Colloquy Knowledge: Ability to distinguish and format Q&A and colloquy format.
• Software Proficiency: Competence in using transcription software and Microsoft Office.
• Skills Assessment: Willingness to undergo a skills assessment test to evaluate abilities.
• Availability: Able to transcribe a minimum of 1.5-2 hours of audio per day .

• Operating System: Windows 10 or 11
• Software: Office 365, For the Record (transcription software), Express Scribe (transcription software)
• Internet Connection: Strong and reliable internet connection for seamless communication.
• Transcription Pedal: A transcription foot pedal for hands-free control of audio playback during the transcription process.
• Transcription Headphones: High-quality transcription headphones for clear and accurate listening to audio recordings.

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week

Pay per page: Starting at $1.25
