Region Controller
:
The primary duty of the Region Controller is to support the Region Vice President and location (branch) Managers by providing essential information and analysis that allow Managers to make good business decisions that match up with corporate goals and objectives. Acts in the role of a financial business partner with the Region Vice President, performing complex business analysis, evaluating detailed pro-forma's, assisting with bid creation/submittals, analyzing contracts and productivity optimization, managing acquisition/divesture due diligence and the integration or disposal process, responsible for completion of region annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Assure that financial income and expenditure transactions and records are in compliance with all rules, regulations, requirements and procedures (i.e., GAAP)
- Business partnering with Region Vice President relative to strategic planning
- Monitor and adjust workflow and assignments to meet established deadlines
- Assist Corporate or Region Controller with year-end audit and perform internal review designed to reduce number of audit adjustments prior to the arrival of the external auditors
- Responsible for creating a positive work environment which maximizes individual and team performance
- Analyze results, drive timely and accurate data recording
- Overall responsibility for the integrity of financial systems and related data
- Develop a framework to provide assurance over the operation and effectiveness of interanl controls over financial reporting
- Establish proper accounting standard operating procedures (SOP), policies, and goals/objectives
- Maintain SOP documentation and training materials in a centralized repository that can be accessed by team members and internal customers
- Identify and implement improvements to existing financial processes through the development of a program of continuous improvement initiatives
- Recognize and drive changes to current processes where SAP best practice opportunities exist
- Work with Finance Business Process Lead to resolve business and operational issues in an innovative, efficient, and effective manner
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:
- CPA or comparable technical designation/advanced degree preferred.
- Strong IT skills in the implementation and operation/usage of major business systems including Order Entry and Accounting/Finance/Budgeting.
- Very strong Personal Computer skills with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Word, and Access.
- Microsoft Excel skills must be above average to highly skilled
- Knowledge/experience in SAP/SAC Planning a plus.
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:
- Ability to travel between offices, as required.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Valid driver's license (if applicable).
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language.

Experience
Required- 5 year(s): Experience with Waste Hauling Operations. Operational understanding/knowledge of Transfer and Landfill Operations required.
Education
Required- Bachelors or better in Relevant field
