Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Assists with supervising and coordinating the administrative and operational activities in the assigned areas. Collaborates with an interprofessional team to ensure safe and effective care delivery while promoting a culture of excellence. Spends approximately half their time in a clinical capacity and half assisting with administrative support.
Essential Job Functions
- Leads a team of nurses and clinical support.
- Supports managers/directors on larger units.
- Performs limited managerial responsibilities and works on ground support for frontline staff and assists in direct patient care as needed.
- Assists manager/director in planning and supervision of unit/department goals and objectives.
- Assists with managers/directors in planning and maintaining department readiness for regulatory surveyors.
- Serves as a professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource.
- Responsible for personal and professional growth as well as fostering an environment where interdisciplinary team members can contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally.
- Responsible for modeling core culture and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and implement high reliability principles.
- Facilitates implementation of change management, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives in assigned areas.
- Supports mission and vision of the organization and adheres to BSMH policies.
- BSMH nurses are expected to practice and deliver care in accordance with the core concepts and intention of the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model

Licensing/Certification
Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)
BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting)
Certifications required based on the unit(s) that the leader oversees and the requirements for those specific units:
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
- NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred)
- TNCC Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (preferred)
- ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (preferred)
- National Board Certification Specialty (preferred)
- Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)
Education
Bachelor of Science Nursing (Strongly preferred)
Work Experience
2 years nursing experience with 1-year minimum clinical experience in the acuity level of desired area (preferred)
Charge nurse or management experience (preferred)
RN Stroke Program Coordinator– Perrysburg Medical Center
Job Summary:
The RN Stroke Program Coordinator is responsible for managing and improving stroke care for patients prehospital, during hospital stay and post discharge; staff education and community outreach programs related to stroke prevention and treatment. The coordinator acts as a liaison between healthcare professionals involved in stroke care, ensuring that patients receive timely and high-quality treatment. The coordinator develops and implements stroke program policies and procedures and monitors and evaluates program performance to ensure the stroke program meets regulatory requirements and standards for accreditation.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates program growth and development by researching, benchmarking, piloting, process improvement, data analyzing, relationship building, sharing, teaching, building, documenting, and accrediting.
Manages all neuroscience community education activities internally and within the community, collaborating with other market entities.
Facilitates education activities for physicians, nursing, emergency medical services, and ancillary departments involved in neuroscience patient care.
Collaborates with the Stroke Program's Medical Director and Co-Chairs the Stroke Committee.
Motivates associates to participate in activities that benefit the community.
Maintains a current working knowledge of neuroscience patient care and works with nursing leadership to maintain quality levels of neuro/stroke care.
Under the guidance of quality and leadership, coordinates all stroke specific survey or accreditation efforts.
Serves as a liaison between the hospital(s) and local fire and EMS organizations.

Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required)
Master’s degree in healthcare administration or Nursing (preferred)
Licensure/Certification:
Current RN License in the state in which they are working or covered by compact (required)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required)
Experience:
5 years' experience in Neuroscience, Emergency, or Critical Care nursing (required)
2 years' experience in patient care management or supervision (preferred)
