Laboratory Chemist – Nanoparticle Drug Delivery (Immediate Start)

CycloSyn is a biotech startup developing advanced cyclodextrin-based drug delivery systems with mitochondrial-targeting capability. Operating from the NEOMED REDIzone incubator (Rootstown, OH) , CycloSyn is executing formulation validation campaigns with a clear path toward pharmaceutical partnership and acquisition within 2–4 years.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to be employee #1 and play a direct role in building patent-stage IP for next-generation therapeutics.

The Role

We’re looking for an independent, detail-driven laboratory chemist to lead day-to-day synthesis and formulation work on our nanoparticle development campaigns.
You’ll take full ownership of executing and documenting polymer- and lipid-based nanoparticle syntheses, managing QC processes, and coordinating with external analytical partners.

This is true bench chemistry , not a training role — ideal for someone who already has solid wet-lab fundamentals and wants meaningful responsibility in a fast-moving biotech setting.

Responsibilities

• Execute established nanoparticle synthesis protocols (lipid vesicle formation, cyclodextrin loading, polymer conjugation, lyophilization).
• Perform and document purification, filtration, and stability testing.
• Maintain complete batch records and QC documentation following internal SOPs.
• Prepare and ship samples for external analysis (DLS, TEM, HPLC, flow cytometry).
• Monitor reproducibility and troubleshoot formulation issues independently.
• Contribute to refinement of GLP-compliant SOPs as the company scales.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with solution prep, polymer or lipid formulations, filtration, and lyophilization.
• Proven ability to run experiments independently and maintain high-quality records.
• Comfortable working in a small-team startup environment with minimal supervision.
• Must be reliable, precise, and ready to start immediately.

Preferred Experience

• Liposome or nanoparticle formulation.
• Cyclodextrin or polymer conjugation chemistry.
• Analytical techniques (HPLC, UV-Vis, particle sizing, zeta potential).
• Prior work in pharmaceutical or formulation R&D labs.
