Job Description Summary

Professional Band Engineer will support the design, development, manufacturing, application, and testing of instrumentation sensors for engine programs within Instrumentation Engineering & Operations (IEO). In this role, the engineer will contribute technical analysis, problem solving, and execution support to help meet team and business objectives. Sensors may include pressure, strain, and temperature instrumentation applied to new parts and materials, including CMCs, with resulting data used to assess engine and hardware performance, support issue identification, and enable safety monitoring. Working closely with more experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, the Professional Band Engineer will build technical knowledge, apply engineering fundamentals, and contribute to the successful execution of instrumentation activities. This position provides an opportunity to develop practical experience, strengthen collaboration skills, and support both near-term program needs and longer-term capability growth within instrumentation operations.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.

• Provide engineering direction, specifications, procedures, and drawings for the application of instrumentation to development engine hardware to meet quality, safety, and functional objectives.

• Establish sensor requirements to meet customer measurement needs on all types of engine components, including pressure, strain, and temperature sensors.

• Use UG and VisMockup software to develop functional instrumentation application designs and define engine mechanical rework and interface requirements.

• Document technical data generated by assigned projects consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

• Provide technical leadership to personnel and cross-functional teams supporting assigned projects, including instrumentation mechanics and design drafting teams.

• Develop and implement action plans to respond to issues/problems and meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems.

• Lead or participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues, providing recommendations to meet technical and program requirements.

• Conduct analytical and experimental improvement studies, particularly on CMC hardware, and monitor/validate the application of various sensor types onto components and assemblies.

• Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical design reviews and program reviews, ensuring timely communication on significant issues or developments.

• Interface with personnel external to the instrumentation organization to address complex tasks and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited university or college (or an associates degree in Mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited university or college with at least 4 years of experience in Testing).

• Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to have the ability obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
