The Dayton Lieutenant provides support to PSOs, the Cincinnati Lt, the area Captain, Contract Manager (CM), Assistant Contract Manager (ACM), and Trainers and performs a wide variety of complex and confidential related tasks to ensure efficient operations and high-quality armed security services are being provided to the government. This includes providing supervisory support of the MERITUS guard force with special emphasis focused on ensuring 100% post coverage and compliance with the contract statement of work (SOW), established MERITUS’ and FPS’ policies and procedures (to include FPS Smartbook).

  1. Must be able to obtain and maintain a government Top Secret (TS) clearance- company will process
  2. Must have a valid/current OPOTA
  3. Meet and maintain all personal certifications, training, qualifications, OPOTA licensing and contractual requirements to work on the FPS contract
  4. Oversee and supervise armed PSOs; provide guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes
  5. Supervise PSOs; Mentor, train, coach and counsel to ensure certifications and duty performance meet contract requirements
  6. Ensure all PSOs meet contract requirements in LTs. areas of operational control (Certification cards are on person and current when on duty as PSO, uniform and appearance, customer service, access control and screening operations are conducted thoroughly and efficiently IAW contract training requirements, etc.).
  7. Ensure to properly utilize all available PSOs for proper staffing sufficient to meet contract requirements and to minimize/eliminate any open post(s) and overtime
  8. Complete reporting, conduct training, and conduct audits in accordance with FPS requirements
  9. Submit all required company and government reports directed by current policies and CM/ACM directives
  10. Ensure all PSOs required government reports are filled out accurately
  11. Conduct all required FPS inspections as directed as by the CM/ACM
  12. Ensure PSOs have all required company issued uniforms and equipment; ensure PSOs uniforms and equipment are clean, serviceable and present a professional appearance
  13. Ensure all schedules are 100% completed and updated in accordance with company policies
  14. Must have a clean driving record which will not impact the company’s ability to obtain vehicle insurance or cause the company’s vehicle insurance to increase
  15. Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Duty Days: Monday-Friday 0600-1500. Lieutenants/Captains will be in the proper FPS uniform during duty hours.

Location: Dayton & Cincinnati Federal building, and all associated outlying post (as directed by the CM/ACM)

All Lieutenants and Captain rotate weekends and holidays. Weekend/holidays hours of duty (in uniform) 0700-1500.

The Lieutenant position requires indoor/outdoor work in geographically dispersed government facilities, driving company vehicles to and from assigned government facilities/posts. The Lieutenant’s duty will include conducting FPS required inspections, standing post as required, performing duty outside in the elements including harsh winter and summer weather. Duty hours are determined by the CM and Director of Operations and may change based on MERITUS/FPS taskers and current operational missions. Due to the nature of the position and requirements of the job, working a flexible hour /shift schedule is not authorized for this position. Must be available to work all scheduled shifts and be available to work on short notice. Shifts and days off may be altered based on other Lieutenants/Supervisors vacation/sick leave. Lieutenant’s shifts may include working days, nights, weekends and holiday hours. All Lieutenants rotate working holidays.

  7. Detail Oriented - ability to pay attention to details of multiple projects or tasks to include maintaining schedules, ability to react promptly to call-offs, submit accurate reports on time, assist PSOs, and assist other Lieutenants, the area Captain, trainers, CM, and ACM
  8. Confidentiality- ability to not disclose sensitive information concerning PSOs, supervisors or any conversations between Management and Lieutenants outside of the Management Team
  9. Organized – ability to develop and follow a systematic method of performing a task
  10. Relationship Building - ability to effectively build positive relationships with Management Team, Trainers, PSOs, FPS Inspectors, visitors, clients and vendors
  11. Working Under Pressure - ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations
  12. Flexibility- ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
