About the Role
We are seeking a Billing Coordinator who is detail-oriented, proactive, and service-minded. This role is essential to ensuring timely, accurate reimbursement while maintaining a positive experience for patients, families, and payors. The ideal candidate understands that strong billing operations directly support patient care, agency sustainability, and trust.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate billing and collections to support optimal reimbursement and healthy accounts receivable performance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records across EMR and billing systems, documenting all follow-up and account activity thoroughly
- Actively work aging accounts receivable, including resubmitting claims, resolving denials, and escalating significantly delinquent accounts as appropriate
- Compile, track, and report key billing metrics and trends
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of billing systems, workflows, and system enhancements or updates
- Serve as a professional point of contact for patients, families, payors, and internal teams regarding billing-related questions
- Ensure billing aligns with payor contracts, authorization requirements, and hospice-specific regulations
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care plans relevant to hospice services
- Protect the confidentiality of patient and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and company standards
- Support audits, appeals, and documentation requests as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the revenue cycle and agency operations
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 year of experience in billing, collections, or revenue cycle operations within hospice or home health
- Working knowledge of insurance plans, authorizations, claims submission, and appeals processes
- Ability to research and resolve complex billing or payor issues independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook required)
- Experience with EMR
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service mindset
- Ability to work collaboratively while also being self-directed and accountable
