Family Substitute Childcare
Summary The Substitute Childcare Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children in the absence of the lead teacher. This position follows established routines, classroom plans, and childcare policies to ensure consistency in care and learning. Duties
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Implement age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
- Follow daily schedules, including meals, naps, playtime, and learning activities.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Use positive and appropriate behavior guidance strategies.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with the director and staff.
- Report any incidents, concerns, or special needs regarding children.
- Follow all state regulations, center policies, and confidentiality requirements.
- Diapering and Toilet changing
- Create their own account in the Ohio Professional Registry, OCCRRA (Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Agency)
- Complete the required trainings:
- Family Child Care Home Orientation Training
- Ohio's Approach to Quality
- Ohio's Overview of Child Development
- ODJFS Management of Communicable Disease
- ODJFS Child Abuse One-Hour Overview
- CPR+AED and Basic First Aid
- ODJFS Child Care Transportation Training (Required if your program will be transporting children)
