What You’ll Do:

The Ohio Industrial Commission (OIC), Office of Information Technology, is seeking a knowledgeable infrastructure specialist. The successful candidate must have experience in administering and supporting Microsoft operating systems, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.



Primary Technology: Microsoft Operating System

Installs, maintains, configures, upgrades and/or administers hardware and/or software independently in workstation support, network administration, server administration, business continuity, information security, telecommunications and network connectivity, or SAN administration (i.e., single technology domain) where technical work requires specific knowledge to evaluate, select, adapt & modify standard procedures; devises new approaches to problems encountered.

• Utilizes vendor supplied and 3rd party utilities for monitoring.
• Diagnoses, analyzes and resolves issues for customer(s) in assigned single technology domain.
• Provides Tier II-III level customer support.
• Conducts performance tuning for hardware and/or software.
• Develops and maintains documentation.
• Promotes system security and awareness by adhering to the Agency’s and/ or State’s IT security policy(s) and standards.
• Develops and maintains adhoc utilities or reports to automate processes.
• Stays current regarding new technologies, standards and techniques.
• Receives orientation related to mentorship and applies as necessary (e.g., definition, purpose, strategies, and evaluation techniques).
• Must conduct themselves professionally at all times and in accordance with the IC’s standards of customer service which require employees to act in a respectful and impartial manner while providing accurate information and timely issue resolution and abiding by the agency’s Confidential Personal Information Policy.

This position is filled through an assessment consisting of a structured interview. The interview will be administered in person at the William Green Building in Columbus, Ohio.

• This is an on-site position and in-office presence is required

This position requires travel; therefore, the person occupying this position must be able to provide his/her own transportation &/or legally operate a state-owned vehicle.

The hourly wage for this position is not negotiable. For applicants who are not current State of Ohio employees, the starting wage will be the hourly rate listed on this posting. Successful employees will move up a step in the salary range within one year, and in most cases within four to six months, with subsequent step increases occurring annually.

For internal applicants, the position will be filled pursuant to legislation or the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
