Mobile Baler Operator/Class A Driver

Metalico in Youngstown, OH is looking to hire a Class A CDL Driver to haul/move, operate, and perform basic maintenance on our Mobile Automotive/Sheet Iron Baler. The Class A Driver will be responsible for hauling our mobile baler (98,000lbs) to job sites, safely maneuver trailer into various scrap and auto salvage yards across Ohio, Western/Central PA, and Upstate NY. This position will require overnight stays when (more than 1 day of work and farther than 1 hour away). The Class A Driver will also be responsible for daily maintenance of greasing and preventative maintenance of tractor and trailer/baler, as well as light maintenance on the jobsite when required (hydraulic line changes, parts changing). The Class A Driver will need to be comfortable working on their own with little on-site supervision.

Summary:

The Mobile Baler Operator / Class A Driver will transport and operate a mobile baler at assigned customer locations. The Driver is responsible for transporting equipment and material, safely operating both Tractor Trailer and Mobile Scrap Baler and professionally interacting with customers. Driver must be able to drive a tractor with manual transmission and heavy equipment operating experience. The Driver must adhere to all DOT requirements, and safe equipment operating procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate and/or drive equipment as required.
• Safely operate the baler in accordance with applicable procedures.
• Conducts pre-shift safety inspection of equipment. Ensures proper daily and light maintenance to equipment when required (hydraulic lines and parts changing).
• Identify material in line with ferrous and/or non-ferrous grading requirements.
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs. All pre/post trip inspection reports must be given to the dispatcher for DOT record keeping compliance.
• Identifies need for repairs and/or maintenance to vehicles/equipment and is accountable for ensuring the maintenance or repairs are accomplished with a minimum of disruption to the operation.
• Operate and maintain records in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), Department of Transportation (DOT) and company policies as required.
• Always ensures a safe work environment for self and others.
• Inform /communicate with the Yard personnel.
• Ensure that Quality, Environmental, and Safety Standards of Metalico, Inc. for production, customers and employees are consistently achieved.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to work across Ohio, Western PA, and Upstate NY, and stay overnight when required (more than 1 day of work, more than 1 hour away).
• Possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial driver's license.
• Must have a valid DOT medical card or be able to obtain prior to hire.
• Safe driving record and history.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits.
• Punctual and reliable; good attendance required.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, with a 40+ hour work week. Schedule is subject to change to facilitate business and production needs. This position will require overnight stays when (more than 1 day of work and farther than 1 hour away).

Location: Metalico Youngstown, Inc. 27 Furnace Ln, Girard, OH 44420. Will be required to travel across Ohio, Western PA, and Upstate NY, and stay overnight when required (more than 1 day of work, more than 1 hour away).
