Facilities Assistant

The Tuscarawas County Public Library System is seeking a motivated individual who will assume the role of Facilities Assistant.

Position: Facilities Assistant

Status: 16 hours per week; Mon.-Thurs. Some Fridays and weekends as needed. Evening availability required.

Salary: $14.50/hour plus paid vacation, holiday, and sick leave



Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent; job experience and/or equivalent preferred; may be required to load, unload, lift, shelve, transfer and/or transport materials up to 75 lbs., including cargo and bookdrop; provide own transportation in fulfillment of job duties; be available evenings and weekends. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Must be insurable under the library’s automobile/vehicle insurance policy

Job Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Support Services Manager, the Facilities Assistant will perform a variety of facility-related duties, including both custodial and maintenance tasks. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Completes daily custodial and room setup requests and regularly reports work status to the Support Services Manager
• Completes daily custodial duties
• Sets up facilities for meetings, programs, and events
• May assist with keeping library vehicles fueled, clean, and in good working condition
• May work with tools, ladders, and maintenance supplies as directed
• Performs a variety of tasks, for example, installs, repairs, maintains, and otherwise cares for buildings, fixtures, and equipment
• Maintains an open line of communication with the Support Services Manager in relation to material deliveries and/or maintenance
• May perform general labor and grounds maintenance; mowing grass, lawn edging, weed removal, cleaning, trash disposal, and snow removal
• May empty trash and recycling containers

Job Requirements:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills; listening and interpersonal skills; organizational skills
• Knowledge of commercial janitorial cleaning methods
• Computer knowledge, including Internet searching, familiar with Microsoft Word, e-mail skills, data entry, and file management
• Knowledge of basic maintenance skills
• Ability to operate mechanical equipment
