About the Organization:
Student Legal Services, Inc. (SLS) is a non-profit law office serving university students. Our mission is to remove barriers to academic success by providing access to high-quality legal advice, representation, education, and resources. SLS operates offices at The Ohio State University, Kent State University, Bowling Green State University, and Wright State University. (SLS is an independent non-profit organization. SLS is not a Kent State University department, and SLS staff are not University employees.)
Position Summary:
SLS is seeking an Outreach and Marketing Coordinator (OMC) to support marketing, social media, and outreach efforts across all SLS offices, with primary work conducted at the Kent State office. The OMC will manage social media communications, develop marketing and educational materials, and coordinate outreach programming that increases awareness of SLS services. The OMC will also represent Kent State SLS at campus events. The ideal candidate is mission-driven, organized, and comfortable communicating with varied audiences, especially students.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing and Social Media:
- Develop and implement social media content strategies to increase awareness and engagement across student and campus audiences.
- Design and produce marketing content and digital materials aligned with SLS brand standards.
- Manage social media advertising campaigns and analytics tracking.
- Coordinate promotional and branded materials for SLS offices.
Outreach and Education:
- For the Kent State office: plan, coordinate, and attend outreach events such as orientations, fairs, and tabling events.
- Coordinate scheduling of educational presentations for Kent State SLS attorneys.
- Develop presentation materials for educational programming across all SLS offices, incorporating input and approval from each office.
- Design and produce printed and digital educational materials consistent with SLS brand guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
Overall:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, education, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Reliable transportation and acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to lift and transport outreach materials.
Marketing and Social Media:
- Experience developing and executing digital communications or social media strategies.
- Ability to create content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
- Familiarity with social media analytics and performance tracking.
- Experience with content design tools (Canva).
Outreach and Education:
- Ability to present information in a clear, engaging, and student-centered manner.
- Comfortable communicating with students, campus partners, and the public.
- Experience coordinating or supporting outreach, event planning, student engagement, or educational programming is preferred.
- Ability to maintain brand consistency across communications.
Preferred Qualifications (optional):
- Experience working in higher education or student services.
- Experience managing or growing organizational social media accounts.
- Experience with data tracking and reporting tools.
Work Schedule and Location:
This position is based at the Kent State SLS office, 164 E. Main Street, Kent, Ohio. Standard business hours are in-office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for outreach events. Limited travel to Columbus, Bowling Green, and Dayton with travel reimbursement provided.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range: $45,000 - $50,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package including health and dental insurance, retirement match, paid leave, and paid parking.
