About Universal Plastics:
Universal Plastics specializes in plastic injection molding, including gas assist and structural foam, for customers mostly in the medical, laboratory and diagnostic markets. We are a large part, low volume injection molder with 85T-1500T presses (19 presses). An injection molding production scheduler is responsible for creating and managing the schedule for injection molding machines and related processes. This involves planning production runs, optimizing machine utilization, and ensuring timely delivery of molded parts. They work to balance production demands, machine availability, and material constraints to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
Responsibilities:
· Creating and maintaining schedules for injection molding machines, including determining which parts to produce, when, and on which machines.
· Maximizing machine run time and minimizing downtime due to changeovers, maintenance, or other factors.
· Addressing production challenges, resolving technical issues, and making critical decisions to maintain operational efficiency and product quality are key aspects of this role.
· Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, and adjusting production schedules as needed.
· Tracking actual production progress against the schedule and adjusting as needed.
· Collaborating with other departments, such as customer service, purchasing, engineering, quality control, and shipping, to ensure smooth production flow.
· Ensuring that production schedules are met and that customer orders are fulfilled on time.
Monitors and maintain accuracy in open order backlog for dates/quantities.
· Proficient in Customer Portal Management and ERP system
· Responsible for general filing, maintaining data and customer files.
· Other duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements:
· At least two years – four years of related experience required.
· In-depth knowledge of the injection molding process, including machine setup, tooling, and materials.
· Experience with production scheduling software, such as ERP systems or MRP systems.
· High School Diploma with good written and oral communication skills and arithmetic skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
· Detail oriented
· Ability to work well under minimal supervision; possess strong self-motivational skills.
· Excellent decision-making skills to ensure we meet production demands.
· Ability to present ideas and concepts successfully
· Excellent MS office skills (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook,)
· Must be effective and efficient while performing all tasks to ensure production needs are met.
· Possess a flexible mindset as jobs and tasks change quickly.
· Detail oriented.
