Intership Overview:
The Cell Culture Process Sciences team within Incyte’s Global Biopharmaceutical Development organization is responsible for developing and optimizing early, late, and commercial phase manufacturing processes in support of Incyte’s biologics pipeline. The team is seeking an intern to join a collaborative and cross-functional team to support its process and technology development initiatives.
Over the course of 11 weeks, this internship is designed for Master’s or PhD students seeking hands-on exposure to a professional, corporate environment. The intern will be involved in the planning, design, and execution of mammalian cell culture experiments for upstream bioprocess development under the guidance of cell culture scientists. Project scope may include process optimization, technology development, or the evaluation of new tools and technologies for platform process improvement. The role emphasizes learning, technical skill development, and practical application of academic knowledge while enabling contributions to impactful, real-world projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct mammalian cell culture process studies to support biologics development, including process and technology development.
Independently plan and execute project tasks with manager guidance as appropriate.
Execute optimization studies in shake flasks, ambr250, and 2L bioreactors.
Perform routine cell culture maintenance & seed culture expansion to support bioreactor runs.
Maintain a compliant laboratory operation in accordance with development protocols, internal procedures, and policies.
Maintain laboratory analytical equipment and manage raw material stocks and supplies.
Record experiments in lab notebooks and perform data analysis.
Present findings and communicate progress and challenges to internal teams proactively.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders as appropriate.
Deliver a final presentation with findings, outcomes, and recommendations.

Requirements:
Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related fields.
Proficient in aseptic techniques.
Basic understanding of mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and bioprocess engineering concepts.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software and basic understanding of JMP.
Active and quick learner; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
High level of initiative and accountability.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and techniques used in cell culture processes.
