The compensation will consist of a base salary commensurate with experience + 20% bonus potential + Excellent benefits.
Opportunity Summary :
We’re partnering with an innovative and growing design and manufacturing company that delivers custom mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical solutions to the Military, Defense, and Medical Device industries. This privately held, financially strong organization is poised for significant growth — and they’re seeking a dynamic Vice President of Operations to help lead the way.
As a key member of the executive team, you’ll hold full P&L and operational responsibility across two companies , driving scalable processes, operational excellence, and sustained growth. You’ll have the opportunity to shape strategy, strengthen performance, and build a world-class operations culture.
The ideal candidate is a commercially minded operations leader with a proven track record in scaling manufacturing organizations through disciplined process improvement and leadership excellence. Experience within Military and Defense markets (80% of business) is highly preferred.
This is a fully onsite position based at company headquarters in the Greater Cleveland, OH area .

Job Duties :
- Develop a comprehensive strategy that enables the company to optimize current offerings while positioning for future growth and deploy initiatives and actions to implement the strategy.
- Embrace a culture focused on innovation, profitable growth, and market share gains.
- Communicate vision to ensure engagement of employees and a clear understanding of direction.
- Establish a culture of setting the bar high with stretch goals and objectives designed to make sustainable share gains on an on-going basis.
- Provide leadership, direction and overall ownership for the P&L including Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance and HR.
- Establish an aggressive growth culture with a focused go-to-market strategy designed to penetrate new channels while gaining share in served markets.
- Develop, review, maintain, control, and implement corrective actions, and regularly report on customer focused metrics such as On-Time Delivery, lead times (compression), revenue-growth, product vitality, and financial progress of business with a continuous improvement expectation.
- Establish customer service, short lead time, and on-time delivery as a sustainable competitive advantage.
- Develop effective and lasting associate development and training to help attract and retain competent associates capable of growing and taking on additional responsibility by creating and developing a high performing team. S/he should be considered a talent magnet and able to attract and retain outstanding performers to the organization.
- Foster an environment of employee engagement by embracing continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all government, regulatory, financial, environmental, safety, and labor regulations as required.
- Develop and maintain innovative and effective cost reduction programs throughout the Operations and Commercial teams.
- Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuing improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery performance through regular kaizen events.
Requirements :
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in general management with a strong preference for experience in government contracting, defense, and/or a medical device company.
- Small company experience ($10 - $25 Million) with limited resources is a plus.
- Experience in multiple channels of distribution including distributors, reps and direct is helpful.
- Experience in making sustainable processes improvements across all functions of the business is a must.
- Demonstrated experience successfully growing a business organically and through acquisition.
- Experience in leading a customer driven growth culture.
- Experience in cost cutting and in eliminating non-value adding activities and in profitability improvement.
- Demonstrated experience in leading significant commercial and operational transformations.
- Strong track record of managing and developing talent.
- Demonstrated experience in growing a business through operational performance.
- Experience in differentiating through innovation, outstanding customer service, and operational excellence.
- Solid knowledge of lean principles with strong focus on quality improvement and in meeting customer request dates.
- Strong understanding of Supply Chain Management including materials replenishment, production planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, visual inventory management, inventory control, logistics, and shipping/receiving.
- Experience in leading and motivating commercial teams and in establishing a strong collaborative environment between commercial and operational teams.
- Knowledge of financial concepts and techniques utilized to manage the day-to-day business and to establish value propositions of operational, commercial, and structural changes.
- Strong process orientation with the ability to direct and lead cross-functional process improvement teams.
- Strong understanding and comfort level with financials.
- Strong data focus with data analytics skills.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; engineering, math, science, business, or another related field preferred.
- Candidates with MBA’s will be preferred.
