Electrician Job Description

Overview

Our company has an immediate opening for an Electrician working Monday-Friday, on 2nd shift, with weekend overtime required as needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining electrical equipment. A Journeyman certification, or equivalent, is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Installs conduit, calculates wire size, pulls wire, wires and installs control equipment, aligns and installs motors and generators, and provides power for them.
• Maintains and cleans motors, installs bearings, and performs related tasks.
• Identifies and corrects line faults or grounds.
• Installs and repairs electrical generating equipment, including battery chargers.
• Maintains, repairs, and installs power transmission lines.
• Maintains, repairs, and installs substations, power centers, distribution, and control centers, including structure and switchgear of all voltages from 69 kilovolts down.
• Maintains and repairs passenger and freight elevators.
• Maintains and repairs electronic equipment, vibrators, and controls (tuber or solid state).
• Works from complex wiring diagrams, requiring knowledge of modern electrical equipment and advancements.
• Guides workers with less experience, ensuring work meets National Electric Code standards.
• Maintains personal and company tools/equipment in good condition and keeps the work area neat, clean, and orderly.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read electrical blueprints and diagrams.
• Proficient in all types of troubleshooting.
• Journeyman certification or equivalent training/experience required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls up to 65 lbs.
• Frequently walks, climbs, stands, and grasps.
• Requires frequent hearing, depth perception, color vision, and clear communication.
• Frequent exposure to temperature changes, dust, and mechanical hazards.
• Must wear eye protection, hearing protection, head covering, and foot protection.
