About Us

We are a busy and patient-focused medical practice seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Billing Specialist / Financial Counselor to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate billing, timely payment processing, and providing patients with clear financial guidance.

What You’ll Do

Insurance Verification

• Verify patient insurance coverage prior to appointments
• Patient pre-operative collections
• Calculate and explain out-of-pocket estimates

Medical Billing & Charge Entry

• Enter office charges accurately within 48 hours

Payment Posting

• Post insurance and patient payments (EFTs, ERAs, checks, credit cards)
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies

Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain accurate account notes
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and adherence to payer guidelines

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–3 years of medical billing, charge entry, or payment posting experience
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and medical terminology
• Experience with EHR and practice management systems
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred:

• Experience in ophthalmology or specialty practice
• Familiarity with insurance verification and pre-authorizations
• Experience in high-volume billing environments
