The Electrical and Software Engineer for Ground Support Equipment interfaces with the OEM, customer and internal manufacturing / product development to manage all software and electronic design aspects of product development and improvements in the areas of automation, software, and electronics. This individual will work with a cross-functional team to develop technical roadmaps and execute both internally and externally with our internal manufacturing capabilities, supply chain and customer interfaces.
The Electrical & Software Engineer for Ground Support Equipment creates and reviews all technical documents and processes for design completeness, compliance, cost effectiveness, and manufacturability to ensure efficient, timely, cost-effective, and accurate completion of finished products.
Key Responsibilities:
Acts as the engineering project focal for electrical design, software development, and automation, independently designing and implementing systems for aviation-related manufacturing, maintenance, and inspection ground support equipment
Develop smart hardware and software solutions for user-oriented products on time, meeting cost and quality goals
Participates in Rhinestahl's Technical Review Board
Participates as a key team member in Product Strategy development to recommend technical solutions to grow and capture market share
Provide troubleshooting expertise to assist team in identifying root cause corrective actions to design, manufacturing, automation, electronic, and software issues
Manage Product Configuration Management Process to ensure consistency of products' performance and alignment to their design and intended use
Review jobs for process improvement opportunities as well as consolidation
Provide technical advisement to suppliers, as required, to fulfill specifications of customer requirements
Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in electronic design, software, or processing methods
Engage and collaborate cross functionally with operations and quality engineers to improve quality control ‘
Perform other duties and specific projects as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
~ Demonstrated ability to lead software and electronic development efforts in an entrepreneurial or small company environment
~ Bachelor's degree in automation, mechatronics, software development, electrical engineering, or equivalent aviation-related experience
~7 years of prior experience in customer-facing roles, electrical engineering management, and/or manufacturing engineering
~ Good knowledge in the areas of control, regulation, and drive technology
~ Working knowledge of design configuration management
~ Practical experience in equipment construction
~ Working knowledge of Solidworks Electrical, with Solidworks PDM a plus
~ Working knowledge of programming PLC's (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and high level programming, including C, C++, Ladder Logic for PLCs, SQL and similar
~ Computer literate in MS-Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Teams)
~ Demonstrated experience in accurately communicating customer needs to ensure organizational capability
~ Expertise with user interface development a plus
~ Highest standards of integrity, loyalty, honesty, moral and ethical values.
~ Strong customer service attitude
~ Excellent English communication skills - verbal and written, with German skills a plus
