Retail and Rebate Accountant

Overview: The Retail and Rebate Accountant will be a key liaison between Finance, Retail (Merchandising/Pricebook/Operations), and our external vendor partners. This role will be the primary contact for the vendor rebate process, which includes analyzing data, invoicing vendors, recording vendor payments and processing vendor contracts. In addition, this role will be instrumental in researching Supplier invoice/payment discrepancies and communicating their findings to the vendor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Rebate

• Responsible for the proper evaluation and interpretation of retail contracts to ensure rebate payments are made accurately and timely per the terms and conditions of the contracts.
• Drive the vendor rebate process to include analyzing purchase & sales data, invoicing rebate vendors, recording/reconciling vendor payments, processing vendor contracts and perform corresponding general ledger account reconciliations.
• Actively partner with retail stakeholders; provide financial analysis and reporting/interpreting of results.
• Organize and conduct monthly/quarterly rebate review and provide feedback on opportunities to gain maximum value on programs.
• Assist in development of annual budget as assigned
• Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Other tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned

Retail

• Process payments received from vendors and adjust accruals as needed based on payments received.
• Field, research, and solve supplier invoice discrepancies until resolution.
• Review third party physical inventory results and investigate/troubleshoot unusual variances
• Solve complex problems, exercising sound business judgment to make recommendations based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Integrate technology into existing processes to meet closing deadlines and improve workflow.
• Responsible for the analysis and resolution of disputed invoice or rebate claim data.
