Job Overview
Under general supervision from higher level supervisor, perform master electrical and electronic work; supervise variously skilled electricians in electrical and electronic work.
Essential Functions
- Perform highly skilled electrical and electronic repairs and installations including program controllers; installs and assist in the installation of wire, conduit, fixtures, transformers, other electrical devices, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Plan, implement and perform inspection programs of electrical and electronic systems, wiring components and accessories; repair as needed to insure safe and serviceable condition.
- Read blueprints, sketches and layouts; plan jobs, determining amount of materials needed and time involved; make cost estimates; compile reports, requisitions, work orders, inventory lists and project records. Apply all codes pertinent to the classification (NEC).
- Supervise skilled and semi-skilled electricians and trades people; assist supervisor in allocating work assignments, reviewing and evaluating work performance, and in training new personnel; coordinate work with other trades.
- Maintain housekeeping conditions as prescribed by area.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Minimum Requirements
Must have an approved certificate from an accredited electrician apprenticeship program and two years directly related work experience; or high school/GED diploma and five years directly related work experience. Must have a current valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
