Key Job Details – PICU RN Travel Nurse

• Location: Columbus, Ohio 43205 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) – Critical Care Float Pool
• Position Type: Locum tenens, Travel RN contract
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 19, 2026
• Assignment Length: 15 weeks
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
• Floating: Required to NICU, CV PICU, Emergency Department (ED), stepdown, and MedSurg units

PICU RN Qualifications

• Current and active Ohio or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience (1.5 years may be considered after screening)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required
• Proficient with EPIC charting system (self-rated at least 3/4)
• Ability to provide 2 professional references (one must be a manager or supervisor)
• Willingness to float to multiple units as needed (NICU, CV PICU, ED, stepdown, MedSurg)
• First-time travel nurses considered with 3+ years of experience and Level 1 Trauma experience
• Cannot have worked permanent for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the last 2 years
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the facility

PICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU and other assigned units
• Float to NICU, CV PICU, Emergency Department, stepdown, and MedSurg units, adapting to diverse clinical needs
• Utilize advanced pediatric nursing skills: ventilator management, arterial and central line care, sedation, and more
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions
• Perform pediatric dosage calculations, wound care, and infection control procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the EPIC electronic health record system
• Comply with hospital policies, floating requirements, and scheduling expectations
