What You'll Do as a Public Safety Intelligence Analyst

  • Research & analyze intelligence data translated from recorded or written materials & provide summarized reports;
  • Provide language translation & interpretation during interviews &/or interrogations for investigative personnel & testify in court as to the accuracy of interpreted & translated material as needed;
  • Prepare intelligence reports, products, & briefings for presentation to all public safety partners;
  • Collect, research & analyze intelligence information & other resources to determine patterns, trends & movements of criminals to aid law enforcement agencies with investigators;
  • Identify & analyze informational databases, spreadsheets & reports allowing information to be easily exchanged & understood;

Qualifications

OPTION 1:
36 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.

OPTION 2:

  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in homeland security, political science, criminal justice, emergency management, public health, international affairs or related field;
AND 12 mos. exp. conducting research & writing reports using operational, mathematical, analytical &/or statistical research techniques.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Supplemental Information

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT: If required, must obtain LEADS certification; must renew LEADS certification biannually. Additionally, some positions at Department of Public Safety must be able to obtain & maintain secret level federal security clearance.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May require some travel. Working hours will include nights, weekends and holidays, based on operational need.

Position also requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Secret level Security Clearance.
Requires valid driver's license to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation.



Background Check Information
A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants.
