What You'll Do:
As a Labor and Employee Relations Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, responsible for supporting in the development and implementation of the employee and labor relations global strategy and translating the strategy into actions that tie to clear business outcomes and measures. You will lead and manage employee relations investigations from start to finish, primarily in North America with support on global investigations. You will assess situations to determine risk, consult on mitigation, and escalate to appropriate stakeholders. Document, track, and close out all matters in centralized system to reporting standards while maintaining confidentiality. Provide consultation and guidance to various HR and business stakeholders on employee and labor relations matters. You may be called upon to assist with an array of labor-related activities as well including supporting negotiations with unions and works councils, and assisting in the successful execution of performance, and governance of the end-to-end Labor Relations processes in accordance with the Global strategy.
You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. You will directly interact with Lubrizol Operations leadership, country people leaders, the global HR team, and Legal Advisors.
- Independently investigate highly sensitive employee relations issues, including conducting complainant, witness, and subject interviews; analyzing data from various internal systems; collaborating with appropriate stakeholders; case management and adjudication; proposing remedial action based on investigation findings; and producing completed investigation documentation.
- Analyze aggregate case data to identify issue trends and opportunities for proactive issue mitigation; make strategic recommendations to HR and business stakeholders at all levels in the organization to proactively address systemic issues.
- Utilizes a practical, creative, and proactive problem-solving approach to efficiently close issues while advising business leaders on acceptable risk.
- Contribute to policies, standards, and business procedures designed to foster compliance with various employment laws and regulations, and to ensure our work environments embody trust, fairness, and inclusion for our employees. Maintain governance and ensure effective and compliant management over process documentation.
- Support local / regional / country / site leaders and HR in labor negotiations and counsel on enterprise-wide labor-management relations, negotiations, union-avoidance strategy, and contract administration activities in region.
- Maintains current knowledge of employee and labor relations trends in the US, legal decisions, and statutory changes.
Skills That Make a Difference:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, law, or business-related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with employee relations investigation casework.
- Labor relations experience with unions, collective bargaining, and negotiations preferred.
- Ability to recognize and define problems; gather sophisticated data and analyze it; establish facts; and draw valid conclusions.
- Deep labor and employee relations experience in a global environment.
- Bi-lingual applicants are highly regarded. (French, German, Spanish, Dutch)
