Job Summary:
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of sourcing strategies and supplier management for custom-manufactured components for industrial equipment applications. You will perform sourcing activities for parts produced according to detailed engineering drawings, including machined, fabricated, welded, and cast components. The ideal candidate brings experience working in a manufacturing environment, understands technical specifications, and can effectively manage supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and on-time deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop and implement global commodity strategies for assigned spend categories.
- Source and develop suppliers capable of producing custom components based on 2D/3D drawings and technical specifications.
- Analyze engineering drawings to confirm material, tolerance, and manufacturing process requirements.
- Spend Analysis in assigned spend categories.
- Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, and perform cost/benefit analysis to support sourcing decisions.
- Negotiate long-term contracts with Suppliers, at local and global level, that set out prices, quality standards, cost-reduction improvement along agreement duration, delivery timescales, and commercial terms and conditions.
- Manage Supplier Relationship at global level, monitoring trend of performance KPIs and risks evaluation, and setting necessary corrective actions.
- Drive cost savings and value engineering initiatives without compromising quality or delivery.
- Implement the saving action plan to achieve the assigned annual cost saving target.
- Monitor the market through constant benchmarking and/or cost breakdown analysis in order to continuously improve costs, quality, delivery and technology.
- Communicate effectively and manage relationships with key relevant internal stakeholders, in order to contribute to the cross-functional projects;
- Enter relevant sourcing data in ERP for new product codes and pricelist updates, and in SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) tool;
- Ensure compliance with sourcing processes;
- Ensure accuracy and availability of Sourcing Data in systems.
Required experience and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement of custom-engineered components in the industrial equipment sector.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, casting, and heat treatment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated success in supplier negotiation and cost analysis.
- Familiarity with SAP ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Good negotiation skills as key element in order to communicate with both suppliers and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience sourcing from global suppliers, including Asia and Eastern Europe.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, PPAP, or other quality systems relevant to industrial equipment manufacturing.
- Basic understanding of CAD tools and PLM platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens Teamcenter).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
