Job Title: Bond Account Coordinator

Location: Columbus, OH
Pay Rate: $22/hour
Shift: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: On-site; hybrid work may be available after training (subject to compliance and security protocols)

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Single-Family Accounting Manager, the Bond Account Coordinator serves as the lead worker overseeing lower-level bond accountants and entry-level accounting staff. This position is responsible for reviewing, training, and monitoring the quality of accounting work; developing systems, procedures, and controls. The coordinator independently performs and reviews complex financial analyses for single-family mortgage revenue bond programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, providing training and oversight to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze subsidiary ledgers, journal entries, and financial statements prepared by staff.
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems, loan and grant management procedures, and internal control documentation.
  • Review complex accounting information and reports for single-family mortgage revenue bond programs in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze and reconcile mortgage loan and bond documentation to prepare detailed reports on cash flow, investments, income, expenses, loans, bonds, and accounts payable/receivable.
  • Calculate accrued interest, amortize prepaid mortgage pools, and manage accretion and loan discounts/premiums.
  • Prepare and maintain automated accounting and reporting systems (e.g., mortgage-backed securities account balances, purchases, and payments).
  • Generate invoices for bond program expenditures (e.g., trustee, liquidity, and remarketing fees).
  • Calculate and report on interest rate swap payments and receipts.
  • Prepare special accounting reports, including schedules for Trust Indentures and Official Statements for bond issuance or refunding.
  • Establish and maintain reconciliation procedures for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in cash transactions and other complex bond program issues.
  • Research bond transcripts and documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Prepare accounting footnotes for the Agency’s annual audited financial statements and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Communicate and coordinate with external partners, including bank trustees and loan master servicers, to resolve reconciliation differences.
  • Respond to public or bondholder inquiries and assist with internal program reviews.
  • Attend staff meetings and provide or participate in in-service training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience , preferably in bond accounting, governmental, or mortgage finance settings.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities.
