Job Description

The landscape is evolving rapidly - with new embedding models, hybrid search strategies, and index types spanning in-memory, disk, and object-store tiers - requiring sustained innovation to stay ahead. The Data Technologies and AI Vectors team owns end-to-end development of vector search in Oracle AI Database: researching novel approaches, optimizing indexing and retrieval, improving vector storage and lifecycle, and integrating with Autonomous Database and OCI services. Senior developers and architects are needed to prototype and productize new capabilities, drive performance at scale, and ensure enterprise-grade reliability. Impact includes faster customer time-to-value, differentiated AI functionality within Oracle Database, increased cloud consumption, and stronger competitive positioning across data and AI workloads.

Join Oracle's Data Technologies and AI Vectors team to build next-generation AI Vector Search in Oracle AI Database. This is a strategic, high-impact area powering similarity search, RAG, and intelligent applications for global customers.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in systems/software development (C/C++/Java)

• Solid understanding of database internals and distributed systems

• Experience with performance optimization at scale

• Preferred: Vector search/ANN, ML embeddings, cloud platforms, or information retrieval experience

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop vector indexing, storage, and retrieval systems

• Optimize performance and scalability for cloud-scale workloads

• Advance vector lifecycle management and hybrid search capabilities

• Integrate with enterprise features: scale-out, security, HA/DR, multitenancy

• Prototype and productize new indexing and retrieval techniques

• Debug and improve distributed database systems

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
