Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, with a strong focus on team leadership, guest experience, and operational execution. This role will play a key part in building systems, developing staff, and ensuring consistency across all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations and support the GM in executing overall business strategy
- Lead shifts with a focus on service standards, flow, and team communication
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment across FOH and BOH
- Assist with opening responsibilities, including team onboarding and operational setup
Financial Performance
- Support cost control initiatives across labor, food, beverage, and supplies
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and vendor coordination
- Ensure accurate completion of administrative functions including reporting and payroll
Guest Experience
- Lead service to ensure a consistently high-quality guest experience
- Address guest feedback and resolve issues with professionalism and urgency
- Build a culture of hospitality and accountability across the team
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Maintain adherence to company policies and local/state regulations
- Uphold food quality and consistency in partnership with the culinary team
Team Leadership & Development
- Assist in hiring, training, and onboarding hourly team members
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management
- Support scheduling and staffing to meet business needs
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Additional Responsibilities
- Support marketing initiatives and local store-level efforts
- Assist with bar operations, ensuring compliance and profitability
- Contribute to menu planning and operational improvements alongside leadership
Qualifications
- 3+ years of management experience in a high-volume restaurant environment
- Opening experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, including service, financials, and team management
- Experience with inventory systems, POS platforms, and basic reporting tools
- ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
