Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience License: Valid state nursing license Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: The position involves working in a corrections health unit environment. Oncology experience is preferred but not required. Key responsibilities include floating to various medical-surgical units as needed. Ensuring staff safety in a secure environment is a priority. The unit comprises inmates requiring medical care. Staff ratios include a nurse to patient ratio of 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for medical-surgical units. Some shifts may be assigned to medical-surgical units while others will be in the progressive care unit. Weekend shifts will vary based on unit needs. Candidates should be prepared for a mix of day and night shifts. A focus on patient care includes managing complex diagnoses and treatments. The patient population includes individuals with active oncology diagnoses, those undergoing oncology workups, and patients with a history of cancer admitted for other medical reasons. Skills and competencies required include cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and patient management across various specialties.
