The Cleveland Plan is supported by Ohio House Bill 525, which provides much-needed flexibility and autonomy for the district and its schools. Our schools have autonomy over human and financial resources in exchange for accountability for performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results. The Cleveland Metropolitan School District has developed standards of excellence that the district applies to all parts of the organization inclusive of schools, principals, school leadership teams, networks, and central office. Alignment between Standards of Excellence (SoE) and the district's Theory of Action helps ensure that principals are able to focus on scholar achievement and that central office supports are timely and effective. THE OPPORTUNITY: Supports all functions of the school office including interacting with students, staff, families, and community members in a manner characterized by respect, concern, and commitment to support and serve, performs administrative duties to support principal and supervises the maintenance of records and the preparation and issuance of orders, permits, licenses, certificates, requisitions and reports. Responsibilities - Becomes familiar with District initiatives including but not limited to The Cleveland Plan, Academic Achievement Plans, etc.
- Meets, greets, and interacts with students, staff, families, and community members in a manner characterized by respect, concern, and commitment to support and serve
- Upon completion of Districts training, ability to utilize various District software packages (i.e., Microsoft Outlook email, FMS, Sierra, etc)
- Answers telephones and relays messages
- Assists parents, staff, students, and visitors
- Opens and disseminates mail
- Address, stuff, and stamp envelopes
- Maintains student permanent records, attendance records, and transcripts
- Types/word processes and proofs a variety of school related materials
- Maintains appropriate files
- Operates a variety of office machines
- Serves as back up in the absence of other secretary/secretaries
- Performs other secretarial-related duties
Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED required
- Computer, word processing, and data entry skills, including creating spreadsheets, letters, and reports using programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook email
- Satisfactory skills assessment profile in keyboarding, word processing (Microsoft Word and Language (Basic Grammar)
- Five years secretarial or clerical experience required. Three years of district experience preferred
- Additional business or secretarial training preferred
- Working knowledge of office automation
- Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills
