New Model Quality Engineer

: Job Purpose
  • Leading Product Engineering Quality Maturation of the complete body unit (CBU) and prevent outflow of any problems to our customers.
  • Manage all areas of Mfg. Quality Business Unit Product Engineering in relation to CBU/System Test activity.
  • Manage Product Engineering responsibilities from Project establishment through Quality Zone E3.
Key Accountabilities
  • Clarification of Department level targets/objectives for respective N.M. Projects
  • Establishment of a Specified Action Plan (SAP) detailing the key events and strategies necessary to achieve the A00 requirements for a respective N.M. project
  • Negotiate the commitment for resources to carry out the detailed SAP activities with Department Management (including Unit/Group Leaders)
  • Rotation of P-D-C-A with regards to the N.M. SAP identifying gaps and promoting activities to recover lost opportunity by:
  • Rollup of project activity through N.M. project evaluation milestones.
  • Upon completion of a given N.M. cycle compile comprehensive reflections pertaining to that project and feed forward to future projects
  • Communication meetings with department, plant project management and R&D as needed.
  • Strategic planning of test activity. Ability to assess the thoroughness of Dept test plan vs New Model change points. Correlating with affected groups and related entities. Correlate with other test PLs for activity efficiency and standardization
  • Represent Dept Leader during new model development process. Identify concerns and assess risk. Escalate priority concerns as needed.
  • Support Zone PL with New Model CBU evaluations/initiatives.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of Engineering experience, preferably New Model development or Product Engineering. Leadership experience w/direct reports is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of Honda, new model development, including each stage of Cost, Planning, Development, Trials and Mass production.
  • Project planning & executions know how.
  • Knowledge of Honda Philosophy
  • Broad Technical knowledge of Honda product
  • Sound Decision making and Problem-solving skills (multi departmental issues/design)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel).
  • Results oriented
  • Ability to read drawings / NEWS / F&A / Feature list
  • Flexibility in work hours and daily job functions.
  • Proven ability to handle high workload or medium project through completion with little direction.
  • Proactive planning for how to prevent recurring problems. Solves complex problems.
