Travel RN – PCU Job Details

• Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Location: Dayton, Ohio 45409 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Interventional Cardiology Advanced Care Unit
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (extensions possible)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours/week available)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1950 - $2000
• Patient Ratios: Targeted 1:4, may be up to 1:5-6
• Unit Size: 34 beds, daily census ~31
• Scrubs: Navy Blue

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (any state; compact nursing license accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience (ICU experience does not substitute)
• Cardiac nursing experience required
• Experience with 1:5 patient ratio in PCU or Stepdown setting
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must pass online EKG/tele competency assessment prior to start
• Experience with drawing ABGs (arterial blood gases)
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Must be fitted for N95 mask prior to working on high-risk respiratory unit (unless PAPR is needed/offered)
• Locals within 50 miles not accepted

Travel RN – PCU Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to diverse populations, including cardiac, liver, heart and respiratory failure, GI bleeds, sepsis, vascular surgery, and drug/alcohol withdrawal
• Manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Cardene, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitro, insulin) and initiate anti-arrhythmics
• Care for post-cath, ablation, pacemaker/ICD patients
• Perform arterial blood gas draws and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Participate in a collaborative team nursing model with RNs, LPNs, and PCTs
• Float to other healthcare units as needed, including high-risk respiratory/COVID units and other Dayton campuses within 15 miles
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, PT, RT, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and more
• Utilize EPIC for electronic documentation and charting
• Adhere to all hospital policies, including floating, shift cancellation, and compliance requirements
