Senior Accountant (Growth path into Fractional Controller)

Location - Mentor, OH

Compensation - $75,000-$90,000 + competitive benefits

Do you thrive in a role where you own the full accounting cycle and want to move beyond reporting numbers into helping business owners understand them?

Are you looking for an in-office accounting role where you can take real ownership of your clients, work closely with a supportive team, and grow into a trusted financial advisor?

And are you looking for a long-term opportunity where you can grow from Senior Accountant into a Fractional Controller role?

If so, PRP & Associates may be the perfect place for you!

About us:

Summary of Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant at PRP & Associates, you will take ownership of the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of approximately 2–5 business clients, serving as a trusted accounting partner to business owners and leadership teams.

You will manage monthly close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and ongoing accounting needs while helping clients understand what their financials are telling them. This is a highly client-facing position requiring strong accounting fundamentals, analytical thinking, organization, and the ability to independently solve problems and keep work moving forward.

This role is designed for an experienced accountant who wants to continue developing beyond traditional accounting responsibilities. As you demonstrate technical expertise, client leadership, and business advisory capabilities, there is an opportunity to grow into a Fractional Controller role with PRP.

Essential Functions

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and client workflows
  • Collaborate with PRP's accounting and tax teams to ensure accurate and timely client deliverables
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy, accountability, and professional communication
  • Develop the financial analysis and advisory capabilities necessary to progress toward a Fractional Controller role

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including Senior Accountant-level responsibilities
  • Strong full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, adjusting entries, and financial statement preparation

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize when financial information doesn't make sense
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and ability to quickly learn new accounting and workflow systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Degree not required if experience is equivalent)

Compensation

  • $3,000 annual employer HSA contribution
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Dependent Care FSA option
  • Paid Time Off (12 days initially, 18 days after tenure)
  • All necessary equipment provided (laptop, dual monitors, phone, etc.)

How to Apply

  • Submit an updated resume
  • Submit a cover letter that answers the following question:
  • Tell us about a time you encountered an accounting discrepancy or financial issue that wasn't immediately clear. How did you investigate the problem, what steps did you take to resolve it, and what was the outcome?

We have a formal recruiting process and have a relationship with Zephyr Connects LLC, whom we use for the screening and hiring process. If you are selected for the next step you will get instructions from Ben Nazar within 3 days of your submission. Everyone will be contacted.
