Job Summary:
As a Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT II), your work will directly impact the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various medical conditions.
In this role, you will process, evaluate, recognize, and interpret specimens. This role will also require leadership as you will provide guidance to co-workers should a staffing or technical issue arise when an on-site supervisor is absent.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Operates instruments and performs procedures within the scope of training, utilizing established protocols.

Performs scheduled maintenance procedures. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and acts according to established protocols.

Performs, records, and maintainsaccurate quality control records. Recognizes out of control results and takes appropriate actions.

Answers inquiries regarding results and factors affecting results. Interacts with health care team, maintaining patient confidentiality. Acts as a liaison and fosters effective communication between laboratory and health care team.

Performs routine inquiry and data input on laboratory computer systems.

Instructs new associates and students as required. Presents educational information to associates as requested.

Processes biological specimens for analysis following established procedures. Evaluates and solves problems related to specimen collection and processing.

Drafts and review procedures. Participates in new method evaluation as requested.

Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Complies with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies by attending mandatory in-services and continuing laboratory education and participating in continuous quality improvement. Maintains and upgrades personal professional development.

Performs other duties as directed.

REQUIREMENTS

Associate's degree in laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from anaccredited institution OR Transcripts showing 60 semester hours from an accredited institutionwith transcripts indicating 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours in chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination OR meet an alternate qualification route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in 42 CFR subpart M §493.1489.

Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accreditedby the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS OR at least 3 months of full-time experience across all lab disciplines OR alternate experience route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in 42 CFR subpart M §493.1489.

American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLT eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire
