Job Description Summary

Primarily in Custodial/Janitorial Services in Recreational Facilities, performs a variety of tasks related to maintaining the University's facilities. Hours for this position are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, with days off being Sunday and Monday.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Sweep and mop rooms and hallways; dust and perform general cleaning of rooms; clean windows
  • vaccum and shampoo carpets; may strip and wax floors; clean and sanitize restrooms
  • Pick up trash, debris and/or litter from University buildings and grounds; empties trash receptacles
  • Assists with maintaining safe indoor/outdoor surfaces, including during inclement weather
  • May assist with events
  • May pick up and/or deliver equipment and supplies
  • May perform cleaning/washing duties in dining halls
  • May assist with other related campus needs as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED
  • No experience required
  • May require driver's license
  • Position requires the ability to successfully pass a Post-Offer Pre-Employment (POPES) physical

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the use of cleaning equipment/materials
  • Ability to understand and follow directions

Working Conditions

Constant simple grasping. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, stooping and use of motor skills that require firm grasping, fine manipulation, and pinching.. Occasional squatting, kneeling, crawling, and climbing. Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional overhead lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Minimal lifting and carrying/transporting materials weighing up to 70 pounds. Periodic assignments given which entail dealing with modestly unpleasant physical situations. There may be considerable noise generated by machine operation, exposure to chemicals and some machinery may present an element of personal risk of injury due to an accident.
