Commercial Furniture Sales Representative
Fortner was founded in 1929, and our family-owned business is committed to bringing you the best in quality & service. At Fortner, we build commercial-grade custom furniture for spaces all over the country, right from our shop in Columbus, Ohio. We are four generations deep, but the same core values since day one: Real Furniture, Good People, and Focused on You.
We’re growing and looking for an experienced, consultative sales professional who values relationships, collaboration, and delivering on what they promise. The OpportunityThis is not a transactional sales role. You’ll guide clients through complex, project-based sales cycles and collaborate closely with estimating, project management, and production to ensure successful outcomes. If you enjoy relationship-driven sales, long-term partnerships, and working as part of a highly collaborative team, this role may be a great fit. What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain relationships with commercial clients, designers, architects, and procurement partners
- Develop new business through networking, referrals, industry events, outbound outreach, and inbound opportunities
- Maintain and grow existing accounts, driving repeat and expanded business
- Lead a consultative sales process—asking the right questions, listening carefully, and aligning solutions to client needs
- Respond to RFPs and bid opportunities
- Guide clients through Fortner’s proven process from design collaboration through production and delivery
- Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and smooth handoffs
- 3–5+ years of experience in consultative sales, account management, or business development
- Experience in commercial furniture, contract interiors, manufacturing, procurement, or a related industry strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly
- Highly organized, self-driven, and comfortable managing long sales cycles
- Team-oriented mindset with a service-first approach
- Comfortable working in the office and meeting clients in person
- Relationship-focused sales with a high percentage of repeat business
- A collaborative, team-based sales environment
- Leadership that values integrity, accountability, and doing the right thing
- Products you can be proud of and stand behind
- Clear expectations, support, and room to grow
- Medical insurance packages
- Short term disability insurance
- PTO
- IRA plan with match
At Fortner, how we work matters:
- We help first
- We do the right thing
- We treat everyone with respect
- We work hard
- We maintain a can-do attitude
