Full Stack Engineer, Software Engineer

This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with in-office collaboration in our Columbus, OH office 2 days per week.
This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.
The Pricing and Rating team for Personal Lines, Red Squadron, is expanding to better serve our business partners. Over the next few years, we will be transforming our rating solution and are seeking talented engineers to join us in this pivotal project. We are looking for an engineer who can:
Provide Full Stack expertise in our primary languages, Java and HTML
Deliver high-quality code using a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach
Collaborate with team members and leads to design and estimate solutions
Partner with business stakeholders and team members to develop comprehensive requirements
Maintain professionalism and integrity in all interactions

Full Stack Engineer, Software Engineer (Sr. Engineer)

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you'll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.Key Responsibilities:
Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience: Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
