Intervention Specialist - Preschool

Position Description

New London Local Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Intervention Specialist for an initial placement within the district's Preschool Program . This position supports the academic, developmental, and behavioral needs of preschool-aged students through individualized, data-driven instruction and early intervention services.

The Intervention Specialist will collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure each child receives appropriate supports aligned with their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized intervention plans for preschool students with diverse learning and developmental needs.
• Collaborate with preschool teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum, instruction, and learning environments.
• Conduct developmental and educational assessments to identify student strengths and needs.
• Provide direct instruction in early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, and foundational learning skills.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and adjust interventions as needed.
• Communicate and collaborate with families to support student growth and consistency between home and school.
• Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education requirements, including IEP documentation.
• Participate in professional development related to early childhood education and special education best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid Ohio teaching license: PreK3 or PreK12 (Intervention Specialist or equivalent).
• Experience working with preschool students with IEPs preferred.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and evidence-based intervention strategies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to use data to inform instructional decisions.
• Commitment to professional growth and student-centered practices.
