Ohio Healthcare Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43205 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens travel nurse contract
• Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Float Pool
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30), 36 hours/week
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (September 29, 2025 – December 29, 2025)
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents
• Floating: Required to NICU, CV PICU, Emergency Department (ED), stepdown, and MedSurg units
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2250 - $2310 per week

PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience (1.5 years considered with strong pediatric background)
• Active Ohio or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications
• Proficiency in EPIC charting (rated 3/4 or higher)
• Ability and willingness to float to multiple critical care units
• Two professional references (one must be a nurse manager or supervisor)
• Travel nurse experience preferred; first-time travelers considered with 3+ years of experience and Level 1 Trauma background
• Not employed at facility within past 2 years
• No local candidates (must reside outside a 60-mile radius of Columbus)

PICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU and other assigned units
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage acute and chronic conditions (renal failure, respiratory support, etc.)
• Perform and assist with procedures including intubation, chest tube management, central line care, and ventilator management
• Monitor and interpret vital signs, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and hemodynamic parameters
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Follow infection control protocols, isolation precautions, and facility guidelines
• Float to NICU, CV PICU, ED, stepdown, and MedSurg units as needed, adapting to diverse patient needs
