Commercial Cleaning Equipment Mechanic & Diagnostics Technician

Pay Range: $29.75 - $31.76

What a day looks like

You clock in, open the scheduling software, and review new service orders you created or received overnight. The first job is a quick diagnostic on a 3-cylinder gas engine powering a truck-mounted carpet extractor. Multimeter in hand and the manufacturer’s service manual on the bench, you pinpoint the issue, confirm parts availability with a vendor, and present a clear repair estimate. Before lunch, you fine-tune a portable carpet extractor, replace filters on an air scrubber, and document each step so the customer knows exactly what was done.

Afternoon brings variety: reviewing troubleshooting guides to isolate an electrical fault on a hard surface floor cleaning machine, then assessing additional service needs on deodorizing equipment and air movers. Between tasks, you collaborate with fellow techs to balance shop workload, keep the bay organized and safe, and make sure quality and productivity goals are met. As customers stop in or call, you communicate professionally—explaining findings, scheduling follow-up repairs, and answering questions by phone and email.

How you’ll contribute

• Diagnose and repair complete systems accurately and efficiently using proper test equipment, troubleshooting guides, and OEM repair manuals.
• Evaluate and communicate additional service needs to customers and the service department.
• Create service orders, schedule repairs, and keep appointments current in the scheduling platform.
• Prepare bids/estimates and present them clearly to customers in person, by phone, and via email.
• Order parts, coordinate with vendors, and align workload with other technicians and store staff.
• Maintain tools and shop equipment properly while keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Support teammates, follow direction from supervisors, and help the department meet or exceed quality and productivity targets.

What you’ll bring

• 2+ years’ experience preferred in one or more: commercial cleaning/restoration equipment, small engine repair, pressure washer repair, or vehicle repair/maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean MVR (no DUIs or careless/reckless driving within the last 3 years).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Personal basic mechanic’s tool set.
• Strong technical aptitude, mechanical knack, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proven diagnostic/problem-solving ability with timely, high-quality work output.
• Safety-first mindset—use of safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE at all times.
• Ability to regularly lift 50+ lbs.
• Professional appearance, solid written and verbal communication, and basic computer skills.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
