Project Accountant POST NUMBER: 481883

A well-established real estate organization is seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial operations of its development portfolio. This role will partner closely with accounting, construction, and project management teams to oversee project financials, reporting, and cost tracking from project inception through completion.

The ideal candidate has prior experience in real estate, real estate development, or construction accounting and enjoys working in a collaborative, project-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities for assigned development and construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other month-end close activities.
• Analyze project financial results, investigate variances, and prepare supporting schedules and reporting for leadership.
• Prepare and coordinate project funding requests and draw packages, working closely with internal stakeholders and external financing partners.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, and commitments, partnering with project teams to ensure accurate financial tracking.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, reforecasts, and financial analysis for active development projects.
• Collaborate with internal operations teams and external partners to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Support audit requests and respond to financial information inquiries as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance reporting efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 2 years of accounting experience within real estate, real estate development, construction, or a project-based environment.
• Experience with project accounting, development accounting, job costing, or construction accounting preferred.
• Understanding of month-end close, financial statement preparation, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience supporting project budgets, cost tracking, or construction/development financial reporting is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or project accounting software preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
