Contract Bookkeeper (Part-Time, Short-Term Project - QuickBooks Desktop)

Hinrich Professional Services has been contracted to recruit an experienced bookkeeping contractor to support an interior design studio based in Gates Mills, Ohio on a part-time, short-term basis (10–15 hours per week) .

This role is focused on cleaning up, organizing, and optimizing financial records in QuickBooks Desktop to create a strong foundation for ongoing operations.

This is a temporary, project-based role —ideal for a freelance bookkeeper who enjoys setup and cleanup work. Work can be completed remotely with some time required in office and during flexible work hours.

Duties

• Review and clean up existing financial records in QuickBooks Desktop
• Reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy of historical data
• Organize and categorize transactions properly
• Set up or improve bookkeeping workflows and structure
• Manage accounts payable and receivable
• Assist with invoicing, purchase orders, and sales tax tracking
• Ensure all business expenses, subscriptions, and accounts are current
• Generate basic financial reports (P&L, balance sheet)
• Provide recommendations for ongoing bookkeeping best practices

Requirements

• Proven experience with QuickBooks Desktop (required)
• Experience with bookkeeping cleanup or catch-up projects
• Strong understanding of accounts payable/receivable and reconciliations
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and technical accounting standards

Nice to have:

• Experience working with interior design, construction, or product-based businesses
